Harry Kane insists Spurs are together

Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane insisted his team are together after their crucial win against Aston Villa on Sunday. Tottenham’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League are now down to the remaining 9 games in the league after being knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday.

The win against Aston Villa has moved Spurs to sixth position in the table, 3 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. Speaking after the game to Spurs TV, Harry Kane admitted Spurs played well below their standards in their defeats to Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb. The Spurs forward added “We dropped below our standards in the last couple of games in all aspects, really, and it was important for us to bounce back, not just for us, but for the club, for the fans, for everyone watching.”

It was an important game. Villa have been great this season, right up there in the league and any game away from home in the Premier League is tough. We’ve come here and done the job. I’m proud of the boys, the way we responded.

We were together from the first minute, dug deep, defended when we had to and put away our chances when we had them.”

There is a long way to go from now until the end of the season, so we’re not getting carried away. It was important we all stuck together, players on the pitch, everyone on the bench, everyone involved with the squad, and we need that going forward if we want to have any type of success from now until the end of the season.”
