Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he was disappointed after Manchester United’s goalless stalemate against Leeds United at Elland Road. Both teams couldn’t create any clear cut opportunities going forward, as United missed out on the opportunity to put some pressure on Manchester City in an unlikely challenge for the title.
The visitors went close with Rashford’s free kick and Bruno Fernandes’ shot, while the hosts had a couple of decent chances through Helder Costa and Stuart Dallas. Speaking to reporters after the game, Solskjaer admitted he was disappointed despite the fact United extended their unbeaten League away run to 24 matches.
The Norwegian said “Today we just didn’t have the moment, take [our chances] when we had them. A draw is disappointing because we wanted to put pressure on [Manchester] City, but we couldn’t score.”
“I’ve not seen many teams in the second half dominate as much as we did against Leeds, because they are so fit and strong. The intensity of their game has been so good, they steamroll teams, but I felt we almost did that to them second half. I really liked what I saw out there, we dominated and played in their half.”
“We kept them away from our goal, away from our half really, so I’m really happy about that.”
“There’s no guarantees in football, that’s for sure. I thought we played well. Especially second half I thought we dominated. We didn’t give any chances away, but the ball didn’t fall for us in a decent way.“
“You know, when two teams meet you create problems, you solve problems, the opposition give you things to think about. We made them adjust to us and we had to adjust to them, because of course they are a unique team. I’ve seen Leeds so many times run over teams second half, and I thought it was the opposite with us.”
“Seriously I thought up until the last 18 yards, that’s where the decisions let us down. Of course we’re disappointed we didn’t get three points, but the boys know they put a shift down, they’ve got a lot of respect for the way Leeds play, and this isn’t something we’re going to look back as derailing our season.”
