Jorginho proud of Chelsea’s performance against Liverpool

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has hailed his team’s performance at Anfield as the Blues fought hard with a man down in the second half to earn a vital point against Jurgen Klopp’s men. The Blues looked to be in control of the game after Kai Havertz opened the scoring, but a double blow in the first half stoppage time resulted in Liverpool equalising the score as Reece James was sent off.

With their back against the wall, Chelsea put in a resilient performance to thwart Liverpool’s attack in the second half and earn a deserved point against one of the title contenders. Jorginho, who was replaced in the final minutes of the game admitted it was a very difficult situation for the team to cope with the Anfield crowd in full attendance. The Italian added “It was very tough out there.”

When you are a man down at 1-1 for over 45 minutes and with the atmosphere at Liverpool, it is very hard not to concede. It’s a big challenge and we did it, so it was a big team effort.”

We are proud of what we did because we showed that we know that we can suffer sometimes and we can fight. It was nice to see everyone fighting and running and helping each other as a team properly, so I think the draw was fair and we can be happy with it.”

We knew from coming here last time that is so hard. We had to fight together because we are a really big group, so we need to fight together and suffer together and it is what we did.”

The Blues midfielder insisted a point against one of the title contenders was definitely a good result considering how the game changed at half time. However, the midfielder urged his teammates to keep up their levels for the rest of the campaign. The Italy international added “We are growing as a team because we believe in what we do. We just need to grow game by game and then we see what will happen.”

The focus now is to be humble, stay hungry for wins and to keep working hard and never drop our levels. When you drop even a little bit that is the problem. We need to keep fighting and working hard as a team. In the end we will see where that takes us.”
